Maintaining our Strategic Initiatives In the past three years we have also established three very specific AIA Strategic Initiatives - to promote Integrated Practice, create a Diverse Profession, and design a Sustainable Future. These initiatives cannot be seen merely as the focus for a given year. I am committed to evolving each of these challenges as changing times, shifting demographics, and now the troubled economy, require. In many arenas we had made significant gains in recent years, and now I believe we can effectively harness that momentum to continue moving forward. I would add to our AIA strategic initiatives as well. I am committed to issues facing our Emerging Professionals, particularly as career opportunities are narrowing. This continuum of students, interns, and young architects must be served now, more than ever in this economy, by our AIA.
